Fast-scale instability in a PFC boost converter under average current-mode control
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper investigates the fast-scale instability in a power-factor-correction (PFC) boost converter under a conventional average current-mode control. The converter is operated in continuous mode. Computer simulations and theoretical analysis are performed to study the e ects of the time-varying input voltage under the variation of some chosen parameters on the qualitative behaviour of the system. It is found that fast-scale instability may occur during a line cycle, which can cause distortion to the line current and degrade the practical power factor. The results provide useful information for the design of PFC boost converters to avoid distortion due to fast-scale bifurcation. Copyright ? 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Hopf bifurcation as an Intermediate-Scale Instability in Single-Stage Power-Factor-Correction Power supplies: Analysis, Simulations and Experimental Verification
This paper reports intermediate-scale instability in a single-stage power-factor-correction (PFC) power supply that employs a cascade configuration of a boost stage operating in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and a forward stage operating in continuous conduction mode (CCM). The two stages combine into a single stage by sharing one main switch and one control loop to achieve input PFC and ...
متن کاملGeneralized Average-current-mode Control of Single-phase Ac-dc Boost Converters with Power Factor Correction
The dissertation presents a generalized average-current-mode control technique (GACMC), which is an extension of the average-current-mode control (ACMC) for single-phase ac-dc boost converters with power factor correction (PFC). Traditional ACMC is generalized in a sense that it offers improved performance in the form of significant reduction of the current control loop bandwidth requirement fo...

This application note describes step-by-step design considerations for a power supply using the FAN480X controller. The FAN480X combines a PFC controller and a PWM controller. The PFC controller employs average current mode control for Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) boost converter in the front end. The PWM controller can be used in either current mode or voltage mode for the downstream conve...
